CITY OF BISMARCK CITY HALL RENOVATION & EXPANSION
REIMAGINING THE HEART OF BISMARCK
Project Overview:
The City of Bismarck engaged Endeavor North Design to evaluate the future of the existing City/County Building and identify a thoughtful, long-term path forward for City Hall. The project began with an extensive predesign effort focused on understanding the existing facility, City operations, public access, building systems, and future needs.
Five distinct options, A through E, were developed and evaluated, ranging from targeted renovations to more significant expansion and replacement strategies. Through collaboration with City leadership, staff, and the City Commission, Option D was selected as the preferred path forward, balancing reinvestment in the existing facility with meaningful improvements to functionality, accessibility, security, and the public experience.
Key Features:
-
Option D includes a comprehensive renovation of the existing City Hall, a new south addition with a relocated public entrance and lobby, a new City Commission chamber, and an outdoor civic plaza. Together, these improvements will create a more welcoming and accessible civic environment while addressing aging infrastructure and supporting the City's long-term operational needs.
Project Impact:
More than a building renovation, the project is an opportunity to rethink how City Hall serves both the community and the people who work within it. By building upon the existing facility while strategically adding new space, the design will seek to create a functional, durable, and distinctly civic place that can serve Bismarck for decades to come.
Join Us on the Journey:
With the predesign phase complete and a direction established, Endeavor North Design and the City of Bismarck are now moving into full design. We look forward to continuing the collaborative process and transforming the selected vision into a new chapter for Bismarck City Hall.
